Magnetic Fluids and Magnetic Microwires: Functional Materials for Optical and Optosensoric Applications

The aim of the event is to introduce attendees, through an expert lecture and a seminar, to the magnetocaloric effect in the special TmB4 system. The micro-scale structures formed from magnetic fluid nanoparticles by an external physical field, and the transverse dimensions of magnetic microwires, fall within the range in which the interaction of such objects with electromagnetic radiation in the UV, VIS, and NIR regions of the spectrum can be observed, most often in the form of scattering and diffraction of optical radiation. These phenomena make it possible to study, for example, the size of nanoparticles in a fluid and the viscosity of the liquid component of a magnetic fluid, or to control the transverse dimensions of a microwire during its manufacturing process.
